4. Two Minutes Late

The heavy mahogany door of the CEO’s office clicked shut behind her, and for a moment, the world felt still. Akshita stood frozen, her shoulders dropping an inch as she finally released the breath she had been holding hostage in her lungs since the moment she stepped inside. Her heart was still performing a frantic Bharatnatyam against her ribs.

Glancing upward as if seeking divine intervention, she muttered to the ceiling, "Kya Ganga Maiyya... out of all the people in this universe, you had to make him my boss? Mr. Khadoos? The man probably drinks black coffee and the tears of his employees for breakfast!"
